Abstract

This study explores the socioeconomic impact of agriculture on farmers in Maliyahatina, considering how demographic factors such as age, education, farming experience, and type of farmer influence perceptions of income, family well-being, and living standards. A total of 150 farmers participated, and the reliability of the data was confirmed with a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.799. The findings show that most farmers are older adults, predominantly male, have basic education, and possess extensive farming experience. Most are marginal landholders, live in nuclear families, and have around five members per household. ANOVA analysis indicates that demographic differences generally do not lead to significant variations in perceptions of agricultural production, income, family status, children’s education, or land acquisition. The exception is age, which shows a significant effect on perceptions of increased luxury due to higher income. Overall, the results suggest that while agriculture contributes to improved lifestyle, demographic characteristics have a limited influence on how farmers perceive socioeconomic changes.
