Abstract

The determination of some air pollutant and meteorological parameter in granite dump site in Uyo L.GA was carried out using standard analytical techniques. The pollutants monitored were NO2, SO2, H2S, CO, NH3, CO2, Cl2, HCN, TVOD, CH2O, PM2.5, PM10, Temp, Relative Humidity (RH), Pressure and Wind Speed (WS). The results for the concentration of air pollutant and their Air Quality Index (AQI) reveals as follows NO2 (0.14 + 0.08 (ppm); AQI = (140). SO2 (0.19 + 0.105 (ppm): AQI = 38). H2S (0.25 + 0.174 (ppm); AQI = 125). CO (3.03 + 2.313 (ppm): AQI = 151.5) NH3 (6.16 + 6.100 ppm); AQI = 123.2). Cl2 (0.30 + 0.14 (ppm); AQI = 300): HCN (1.73 + 0.67 (mg/m3; AQI = 17300). TVOC (0.74 + 0.80 (mg/m3); AQI = 148). CH2O (0.08 + 0.1002 (mg/m3); AQI = 666.7). PM2.5 (34.2 + 23.113 (μg/m3); AQI = 136.8). PM10 (78.2 + 81.20 (μg/m3); AQI = 156.4). Temp (30.2 + 0.5030C). Relative Humidity (RHhhhhKH). (76.3 + 1.284%). Press (1004.1 + 2.73 (kpa). W. S. (0.63 + 0.66 (M/S). The result should NO2, SO2, SO2, H2S, CO, NH3, Cl2, NH3, Cl2, HCN, and TVOC. PM2.5 and PM10 were higher than the FEPA standard limit. Correlation analyses showed that, NO2 and SO2 exhibited strong positive relationships with CO2, NH3, TVOC and HCN. Hydrogen sulphide showed common source and strong correlation with NH3, TVOC, CH2O, PM2.5 and PM10 correlated positively and significantly while CO indicate negative correlation. Ammonia shows a strong correlation with CH2O, TVOC, PM2.5, PM10 and RH at P<0.01. Since all the investigated parameter are above the FEPA stipulated limit, there is need for regular monitoring and legislation to avoid human health risk.
