Abstract

A sustainable ocean economy is achieved by improving economic, environmental, and social performance. Unfortunately, Tanzania’s Marine and costal ecosystems are threatened by overfishing, mangroves and coral reefs, and marine debris degradation. Thus, this research analyses the blue ocean business model in coastal areas of Dar es Salaam Tanzania

Key findings from the case studies in this report include the importance of establishing a trusted and diversified knowledge base, complimented with resources which help inspire and support innovation; as well as the importance of developing an engaged process of stakeholder consultation and co-creation of a vision for a Blue Economy
